This year’s Coach of the Year award goes to Jason Walsh from Bonn. Jason appeared on the scene last winter and soon showed himself to be an extremely experienced and talented coach.
His background as a top-level coach in New Zealand and Australia meant that he was an obvious choice to coach the Western Eagles team in this year’s inaugural DCB Super Series tournament, which they ended up winning. However, not many reckoned with him going the extra mile with incredible ambition and motivation to improve German cricket. In addition to the Western Eagles, Jason has also worked as assistant coach to Sajid Sikandar with the successful Germany Under 19 team as well as being promoted to assistant coach of the full men’s national team under Steven Knox. He also coaches children at the Bonn International School and several of the local teams in and around Cologne and Bonn.
His contribution to a successful summer for German cricket has been outstanding. Jason will be honoured at the AGM in Munich in a few weeks.
