Unsere Expertin, Bettina Hammersen hat zu erzählen ...!"In Deutschland wird Cricket in gemischten Mannschaften gespielt. Und in Göttingen gibt es schon verschiedene Frauen, die Cricket einmal kennen lernen möchten." – Diese viel versprechende Antwort bekam ich im Herbst 2002 auf meine Anfrage, ob es an der Universität auch eine Damen-Mannschaft gäbe. Ich wäre vermutlich nie zum Probetraining gegangen, hätte ich gewusst, dass es damals nur eine Handvoll Cricket-Spielerinnen in ganz Deutschland gab – und ich in Göttingen lange die einzige Frau bleiben würde. European Girls gather in Germany for 2nd tournament

Eight teams were attracted to the 2nd European girls’ indoor tournament held in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany, on 16 and 17 February and organised by the newest of the DCB’s cricket regions, the North East German Cricket Association (NOCV).
Two girls’ club teams travelled from England, the eventual winners Thornbury CC, and , runners-up Shirehampton CC , while from the Netherlands came the Dutch U16 team and from Hungary, the Pusta team. Germany provided three teams, Oldenburg CC, Reinickendorfer Füchse Radiomultikulti Cricket team and Schwerin BBCCC. There was also a President’s International Team (PIT) composed of players from Bavaria, Oldenburg and Hungary.
The teams, and tournament officials gathered for an official welcome and reception at the Mercure Hotel in Potsdam on Friday evening, the 15 February, which was attended by the Mayoress of Brandenburg, Dr. Dietland Tiemann, the tournament Patron; Thomas Lunacek from the Brandenburg state parliament; Steffi Lamers a Brandenburg sports representative, sponsors and special DCB guest Jackson Thompson, Gloucester CCC player. Results of the 2nd European Girls U17 Tournament in Brandenburg an der Havel

Eight teams played in 20 games over the weekend of 16th to 17th February 2008 in the second European Girls U17 tournament held in Brandenburg an der Havel. The results do not reflect the excitement of many of the games played with great enthusiam and competitiveness by the girls. However, all of the girls showed great Spirit and were a credit to their coaches, schools and parents. Our heartfelt thanks to all involved in forging a future for Womens Cricket in Europe. [ mehr ]

Stern des Sports für die VfB Oldenburg Cricket Damen

Am gestrigen Abend lüftete sich das Geheimnis um die fünf Platzierungen um die Sterne des Sports. Auf dem Empfang der Volks- und Raiffeisenbank Oldenburg wurden 22 Bewerbungen von 17 Vereinen gewürdigt. Drei Vereine erhielten den Stern in Bronze, Silber und Gold. [ mehr ]
