Wir freuen uns, Atiq-uz-Zaman als Cheftrainer der Herren-Nationalmannschaft begrüßen zu dürfen. Die Nationalmannschaft befindet sich mitten in der Vorbereitung auf die ICC World Cup Qualifiers diesen Sommer in Schottland. Dort wird um die ersten beiden Plätze gespielt, die zur direkten Teilnahme an der T20-Weltmeisterschaft 2024 berechtigen.
Zaman absolviert derzeit seine Qualifikation der Level 4 und ist zusätzlich als Batting Scout für die Herren-Nationalmannschaften von England und den England Lions tätig. Seine Unterstützung des englischen Männerteams als Batting Scout brachte ihm eine weitere Feder am Hut ein, als das Team 2022 den ICC T20 World Cup gewann. Er verfügt über umfangreiche Erfahrungen aus früheren Einsätzen beim Lancashire CCC in der U11-, U12- und U13-Mannschaft sowie in der Frauenmannschaft, die zwischen 2016 und 2019 eine Reihe von County Championships gewonnen hat. Er ist nicht nur ein erfahrener Trainer auf englischem Boden, sondern war auch als Leiter des Fielding- und Wicket Keeping-Coaches im High Performance Centre des Pakistan Cricket Board tätig. In dieser Funktion hat er auch Erfahrungen beim PSL-Team Lahore Qalandars und bei der pakistanischen Frauen-Nationalmannschaft gesammelt. Ein weiterer Höhepunkt in Zamans Karriere war seine Ernennung zum Cheftrainer des pakistanischen Erstligisten SSGC, wo er Spieler wie Shoaib Malik, Babar Azam und Muhammad Amir trainierte.
Außerdem ist Zaman ein ehemaliger pakistanischer Test- und ODI-Cricketspieler, der auch County Cricket und Grade Cricket in England bzw. Neuseeland gespielt hat. Sein Engagement als Trainer und Spieler im Elite-Cricket wird eine Bereicherung für unsere Spieler und unseren Trainerstab sein und uns in die Lage versetzen, unseren aktuellen nationalen und U19-Kader sowie die allgemeine Talententwicklung im deutschen Cricket zu fördern.
Zaman ist nun bereit, mit seiner Mission zu beginnen, jungen Athleten mit denselben Denkstrategien zu helfen, die ihn bis an die Spitze seines Spiels gebracht haben. Sein Engagement wird sich auf die strategische Planung, Umsetzung und Begleitung von Entwicklungsprogrammen im Rahmen des Elite-High-Performance-Prozesses konzentrieren.
Atiq-uz-Zaman is the new national trainer of the German men’s national team
The DCB is pleased to announce Atiq-uz-Zaman as the Head Coach of the Men’s National Team. The national team is in the midst of preparing for the ICC World Cup Qualifiers this summer in Scotland. Where there will be playing for the top 2 spots, that will earn a directly entry into the T20 World Cup in 2024. Besides the national team engagement, Zaman also will focus on strategic planning, implementation & monitoring of development programmes within the Elite High-Performance process.
Zaman is currently pursuing his Level 4 qualification and has the added responsibility of being a batting scout for the England & England Lions men’s national teams. His assistance with the England men’s team as a batting scout earned him another feather in his cap, when they lifted the ICC T20 World cup in 2022. His extensive experience spans from previous stints with Lancashire CCC in their U11, U12 & U13 set up as well as the women’s county squad that has won a handful of County Championships between 2016-2019. Not only is he seasoned in coaching on English soil but has also been involved with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s High Performance Centre as the Lead Fielding and Wicket Keeping coach. He has also experience in the same capacity for both the PSL team, Lahore Qalandars, as well as the Pakistan women’s national team. Another notch in Zaman’s belt was his appointment as Head Coach of the Pakistani First Class team SSGC where he managed players like Shoaib Malik, Babar Azam & Muhammad Amir.
Zaman is also a former Pakistan Test and ODI cricketer who has also played county cricket & grade cricket in England & New Zealand respectively. His involvement in coaching & playing elite cricket will be an enrichment to our players and coaching staff, enabling us to advance our current national & U19 pathway as well as general talent development within German cricket.
